Giving Thanks – Gün 9

Giving thanks day 9 if for Yoga!

This morning I went for a 20 minute sprint/recover run, then hit up a yoga class! Great Saturday morning!

My love for yoga wasn’t always so. Years and years ago I went to a couple of classes but it never really clicked with me. I am more of a go, go, go type person. Give me something that required a faster pace, mountain biking, running, hiking, sailing, wake boarding, etc.

Yoga was to slow-moving for my taste. Then about a year or two ago, I found a studio I really liked. I would go a handful of times throughout the year. By no means enough to consider myself a yogi or get to fully reap the benefits.

This year though that changed. Earlier this summer I got promoted to a more demanding job. I don’t find my work stressful in the least, just more is expected of me and I have higher goals I have to achieve.

I decided with this I needed to revisit yoga and what do you know, this time it stuck. I started with doing videos at home. Learning the poses and the names. Really getting comfortable in my practice.

What I think my yoga session looks like at home:

A yoga

What it really looks like. Usually our puppy Boxer Ava loves to be right in the middle of it all. Our other Boxer Baron will join in every once in a while.

Yoga Buddy

During my search for good yoga videos, I came across something truly amazing. Erin Motz teamed up with DoYouYoga.com and created a 30 Day Yoga Challenge. The videos ranged from 10 minutes to 20 minutes and each focused on different things. I was hooked.

You know how you try different classes, sometimes you like the instructor and other times you don’t? Erin was one of those times you do. She has a great personality, passion for yoga and One Bad Yogi attitude. Check out her website here.

So after the 30 Day Yoga Challenge, I found a studio close to my work so I could go right when I left. Turns out that not only is the location perfect but the teachers are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

They even do outdoor classes!! Which I have to say takes it up a major notch! How much better can it get being surrounded by nature during your practice. You look up and see the sun shining through the trees, Hello Namaste!

I don’t think you need a yoga studio to practice yoga. I actually prefer doing it at home but sometimes it is challenging to find a good yoga video to do.

Until now!

I just helped fund a yoga Kickstarter Program!! Erin teamed up again with DoYouYoga.com for MyYogaPro. Here is the summary of it per the website:

MyYogaPro is an an online yoga program that combines 16 in-depth yoga video courses with a cool way to track your progress, earn rewards for your achievements and interact with other yogis on your journey. MyYogaPro puts YOU in control of your practice, wherever your are.

For the full details check out the website here.

If you are interested you have until the beginning of December to get in on it. Right now for $55 you can get a LIFETIME pass. That is only available during the Kickstarter phase, after that the membership will only be for a year and higher in price.

Namaste :)
